The acting president of the Sunyani Traditional Council, Nana Kwaku Sarbeng II has been suspended from his office.

A statement announcing his suspension said as a result of the suspension, he should not be accorded the needed courtesies.

The statement was signed by the Queen Mother of the Sunyani Traditional Council, Nana Akosua Dua Asor Sika Brayie II.



Prior to the release if the statement announcing the suspension of Nana Kwaku Sarbeng II, Queen Mother of the Sunyani Traditional Council, Nana Akosua Dua Asor Sika Brayie II questioned his authority to select a Chief for Sunyani.

According to her, the Traditional Council has no locus to enstool a chief for the people of Sunyani without the express approval of the royal family.

She could not fathom why the Traditional Council would disregard the tenets of their traditions and do things to satisfy their parochial interest.

“You people are in the media and have an understanding of how the royal family works. There is nowhere in the world where the traditional council enstools someone as chief. They play a role, but that is after the family has selected their choice, and then the person is sent to them for approval.

Nana Bosoma Asor Nkrawiri II, the Omanhene of the Sunyani Traditional Area in the Bono Region died in July 2023.
