Burkina Faso's leader commends Ghana's new leadership, calls for bilateral ties

The Head of State of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, has commended President John Dramani Mahama on his new leadership role, describing it as an opportunity to strengthen the bond between the two countries.

He emphasised that Mahama’s leadership marks the beginning of a new chapter in bilateral relations

A post shared on X on January 9, 2025, by EDHUB indicated that Captain Traoré made these remarks while addressing citizens of Burkina Faso on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, after returning from the inauguration of President John Dramani Mahama.

Highlighting the importance of collaboration, Traoré reiterated his unwavering support for Ghana, particularly in the area of security.

He also called on the citizens of Burkina Faso to extend their support to the people of Ghana, to promote solidarity and unity between the two neighbouring countries.

The post read, “Burkina Faso's Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, addressed the people of Burkina Faso after attending the inaugural ceremony of President John Mahama in Ghana last Tuesday.

"In his address, he stated that the arrival of President John Mahama as Ghana's new president is a moment for Burkina Faso and Ghana to strengthen their relationship and take it to new heights in the days ahead."

It added that, "He reiterated his support for Ghana, particularly in terms of security, and emphasized the need for both countries to work together to strengthen cooperation. Traoré also urged the people of Burkina Faso to support the people of Ghana in every way possible.”
