Electrochem Ghana Limited has denounced a violent attack on the company's property by alleged supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Armed men assaulted and looted Electrochem Ghana Limited on January 9 at approximately three in the morning. During the chaos, several employees were injured.

The suspected armed assailants caused significant disruption, as emphasized by Chief Executive Officer Abdul Razak Adam in a statement.

According to the statement, the armed men stole a large quantity of salt products and other office equipment from the warehouse.

“This morning, at approximately 3:00 am, our facility at Electrochem Ghana Limited was violently invaded and ransacked by armed assailants wielding cutlasses and firearms. The perpetrators, who explicitly stated that they were sent from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) headquarters, were led by a known NDC activist.

“This brazen attack is not an isolated incident but part of a disturbing trend that poses a grave threat to the safety and security of our employees and the integrity of our operations. The assailants wreaked havoc on our premises, stealing essential office supplies and a significant quantity of our salt product from the warehouse.”

The salt mining company expressed concerns about the financial loss resulting from the invasion.

“This criminal act has led to considerable financial losses and a profound disruption of our daily operations. More alarmingly, some of our staff members sustained injuries during the chaos, underscoring the urgent need for protective measures and accountability.”

The statement highlighted how such lawlessness jeopardizes the confidence of both domestic and foreign investors.

“Such lawlessness undermines the investment climate in our region and threatens the trust we have cultivated with both local and international investors who have committed substantial resources to our endeavors.”

Electrochem is calling for an investigation and insists that those responsible be held accountable to the full extent of the law.
