Social media has been flooded with mixed reactions following the Office of the Special Prosecutor’s (OSP) latest update on the investigation and prosecution of former Minister of Finance Ken Ofori-Atta in connection with several high-profile cases.
In a release dated March 17, 2025, the OSP stated that any failure by former Minister of Finance Ken Ofori-Atta to appear before the OSP on June 2, 2025, would lead to consequences.
The OSP warned that Ken Ofori-Atta could face consequences such as having his name re-entered on the list of wanted persons and being declared a fugitive from justice.
The OSP intimated further that it will request the issuance of an Interpol Red Notice and trigger extradition proceedings against Ken Ofori-Atta.
The statement has sparked varied opinions among Ghanaians, with some users commending the OSP's determination to ensure that the former minister is held accountable for the charges against him.
Netizens who strongly support the OSP, argue that the Special Prosecutor has demonstrated that he will not be intimidated or deterred from exercising his mandate.
Other users with contrary views, have criticized the prosecutor for what they describe as "needless banter." They argue that the OSP is wasting time with unnecessary discussions when it could be taking direct action against Ofori-Atta.
Others have voiced their concerns, questioning why the OSP isn't taking immediate action and instead has scheduled Ofori-Atta’s engagement on June 2, 2025. They wonder why the OSP seems to be dragging the issue, with some suggesting that it may be a ploy to mislead Ghanaians.

Ken Ofori-Atta is playing the classic elite defense strategy—stall, lawyer up, and escape accountability. This whole “request” to be removed from the wanted list is just a smokescreen. He’s buying time to assemble a powerhouse legal team in Ghana and the U.S., just like how…

Is an ordinary Ghanaian likely to enjoy the privilege of a suspended or extended appearance before a law enforcement agency only by complaining that he is sick?
Why is the OSP not considering formal charges?@barkervogues https://t.co/dCE87cmuNA
