The Member of Parliament (MP) for Upper West Akim Constituency in the Eastern Region has implored his colleague MPs to be proactive on President Akufo-Addo’s promises to the people of Ghana.

Derik Darko Ohene Assifo Bekoe said the President has promised constructing one factory for every district but if the leaders such as MPs and Municipal, Metropolitan and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) sit idle waiting for the President to construct the factories, it will never come to pass.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP was speaking on Onua FM’s Ghana Dadwene on Thursday, March 9 hosted by Nana Yaw Opare.

The former DCE for Upper West Akim said “the President said he will do one district one factory. You sit and see if President will bring it. You must lobby before they can come and that is what I am doing”.

He said he will sit down with his people to determine what factory will be suitable in the constituency.

“We must start looking for lands. We must do a proposal. We must get the raw material in place before the President starts the factory,” the MP explained. Proposed factory Mr. Ohene Assifo Bekoe said “we can establish a gari factory there because the best gari comes from Adeiso”.

“We manufacture the best gari in Ghana. If you want the best gari, come to Adeiso because we export gari to Nigeria and even European countries.”
