The East Legon Police have apprehended 10 land guards at Adjiriganor, located within the Adenta Municipal District, seizing cutlasses and other weapons in the process.

The suspects were taken into custody following a report made by Nuumo Borketey Laweh XXXIII, the Gborbu Wulomo and owner of the land.

On Wednesday, August 28, 2024, he informed the East Legon Police in Accra that land guards were harassing clients on his property at Adjiriganor, which had been sold for development.

These land guards were reportedly disrupting construction by distributing and, at times, confiscating the tools of workers hired to develop the lands.

According to one of the clients, the landguards would sometimes threaten the workers, forcing them to leave the sites.

On August 28, 2024, an intelligence-led operation by the East Legon Police led to the arrest of the suspects at Adjiriganor.

Following the arrest, authorities discovered cutlasses and other materials in the possession of the suspects.

Investigations revealed that the suspects frequently visited the area to seize tools from workers employed by developers to construct houses, using intimidation and threats of violence to drive the workers away.

When reporters visited the East Legon Police Station, the CID unit confirmed the arrest of the 10 suspects, who are currently in police custody.

Their statements have been recorded, and according to the police, they will be arraigned in court on Thursday, August 29, 2024.
