The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has so far arrested 10 young men who masterminded various examination leakages in the country.

WEAC says several websites that the perpetrators of these examination leakages used have also been closed down.

“WAEC board did a lot of work by arresting these boys and that is why there was no examination leakages in the just ended Basic Education Certificate Examination”, the Public Affairs Director of WAEC, Mrs. Agnes Teye Cudjoe revealed this in an interview on Onua FM’s Yen Sempa hosted by Kwame Karikari Monday.

Mrs. Teye Cudjoe was commenting on the President John Mahama’s commendation of WAEC for ensuring leakage-free BECE this year.

“I’m pleased also to note that WAEC has risen to the occasion to deal with the shameful examination malpractices that have plagued examinations over the past several years.

“This year, I am proud to note that our BECE examinations have passed with no incident recorded,” President Mahama made the commendation at the 70th anniversary ceremony of Aburi Girls Senior Girls on Saturday. Mrs. Teye Cudjoe also acknowledged: “we are excited about the commendation but that does not mean we should be complacent. WAEC will continue to clamp down on all those involve in these examination leakages”.
