President Nana Akufo-Addo has written to the Trade and Industry Minister, Alan Kyeremanten, asked the minister to put those facts before the Ghanaians over allegations that his ministry charged expatriates between $25,000 and $100,000 to enable them to sit close to the President at an awards ceremony.

A statement signed by Information Minister, Mustapha Hamid said “Following public debate on the alleged extortion of money from the expatriate business community for a seal at the Presidential table at the Ghana Expatriate Business Awards (GEBA) the president in a letter dated 20th December 2017 and issued through the chief of staff, asked the minister Miniter for Trade to answer to that.

The statement added that the Minister for Trade has since responded to the President query and the facts, as reported to the president, do not disclose any wrong doing on the part of the minister of any government official.

The President has therefore asked the minister to put those facts before the Ghanaian people.
