President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has assured Ghanaians that the size of his government is necessary for the betterment of the living conditions of Ghanaians.
He made this statement at his maiden encounter with journalists in Accra on Tuesday.

“I am not worried about the size of government because I think that first of all, the majority of people in government are members of parliament. I think two thirds or three fifths of the appointees are members of parliament”, he said.

“The important thing is your capacity to get hold of the machinery and deliver. If at the end of the day, at the end of the 4 years, people of this country will wake up and feel the significant improvement in their lives; there are more jobs available, people are getting better wages, the cost of living is something within the reach of the Ghanaian people, I don’t think they are going to worry themselves so much about the size of my government”, he reiterated.

The president expressed his gratitude to the media for availing themselves for the occasion and assured media personnel present of organizing another event of such nature later on this year.
“It is my intention to have such encounters twice a year”, he added.

Early this year, President Akufo-Addo appointed a record number of 110 ministers into government.
