The Ministry of Education has given approval for the appointment of 110 district monitoring assistants, one for each district in the country to ensure effective supervision of teaching in schools.
Mr Kwabena Kyere, Deputy Minister of Education, announced this at a one-day conference at Akosombo at the weekend. He said the general cry is that the standard of education is still falling and this has been principally attributed to the low performance of teachers.
Mr Anthony Boafor, Regional Chairman of the conference, stated that a lot has been achieved in the educational sector since the government decentralised the administration and management procedures of the sector with the appointment of the first batch of district director of education in 1990.
