The Ghana Police Service has recalled 14 officers interdicted in connection with an alleged sexual misconduct while on a peacekeeping mission in South Sudan.

The suspects were all part of the Formed Police Unit of the Ghana Police Service who were on 22 February 2018 recalled from Wau and confined to a base in Juba after a preliminary investigation into allegations of sexual exploitation.

According to the UN, it received information that the Ghanaian personnel were allegedly engaged in transactional sex, a clear breach of the UN and UNMISS Code of Conduct that prohibits sexual relationships with vulnerable individuals.

In all, 46 personnel of the Ghana Police Service were accused of the misconduct.

However, a memo sighted by ClassFMonline.com directed that the interdiction on 14 personnel be lifted.

The 14 interdicted police officers were:

Desupol/Mr. Henry Ntikura Agyemang

CPL. Degraft Osei Nyantakyi

CPL. Isaac Frimpong

Meanwhile, the Minister for the Interior, Mr. Ambrose Dery, has said all the 46 personnel accused of the misconduct continue to serve with the police until investigations are done with.
