155 Students Benefit From Sikkens Education Fund

One hundred and fifteen students of Junior and Senior Secondary Schools in the Kwahu-South District in the Eastern Region have benefited from the Sikkens Education Trust Fund.

The Managing Director of Bamson Company Ltd., the accredited agents of Sikkens of Holland, Mr. Kwame Ofosu Bamfo, presented the scholarship awards to the Kwahu- South District Director of Education, Mr. A.K. Amoatey.

Mr. Ofosu Bamfo, in making the presentation, disclosed that about 1,359 applications were received out which 115 were accepted to obtain a total amount of ?35 million.

He said out of the 115 students, 100 were Junior Secondary School pupils and that they received ?20 million at ?200,000 each to cover their uniforms, a year's school fees and stationery.

The rest of the 15 SSS students received the remaining ?15 million of a flat rate of ?1 million each to support them in this academic year.

Mr. Bamfo mentioned that plans were far advanced to expand the Sikkens Education Trust Fund to students of tertiary and vocational institutions.

The District Chief Executive, Mr. Raymond Osafo Djan, thanked Mr. Ofosu Bamfo and called on the pupils to make good use of the kind gesture they had received.

The Sikkens Education Trust Fund was established in April, last year with a seed amount of ?125 million.
