2 Kumasi Residents Battle Robbers

Two residents of Asokwa in Kumasi, Joseph Kwaku Wuako and Kwasi Poku, last Thursday gallantly battled four unidentified armed robbers and got them to abandon their objective and flee in a waiting vehicle.

In the process, the two men sustained gunshot wounds, for which they were treated at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).

Chief Superintendent Paul Siaw Frimpong, the Ashanti Region Crime Officer, who disclosed this to the Times on Monday, said that Asokwa had suffered a couple of armed robberies recently. He said that at about 2am on August 4, Wuako and Poku caught sight of and confronted some people who were behaving suspiciously in the street.

Chief Superintendent Frimpong said that following a struggle, the armed robbers opened fire on Wuako and Poku and then drove away in a hurry, leaving the victims lying in a poll of blood.

Neighbours who heard the commotion rushed to the scene and transported the two men to KATH, where they were treated and discharged.
