2 University of Professional Studies students die

Two Level 200 students of University of Professional Studies (UPS) Legon, died instantly when a vehicle ran into them in front of their house at Madina at about 2000 hours last Friday.

Speaking to Ghana News Agency, (GNA) Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mr Michael Asiedu, the Madina Divisional Motor Transport Traffic Unit Police Commander, identified the deceased as Alberta Egbedzier (20) and Charity Oppong Amoako (24).

He said the students, who had written their examinations on that day, were conversing in front of their house, along the Akosombo road, when a speeding unregistered Mercedes Benz car, ML 350 4x4, crashed them against the wall.

The commander said the vehicle was at the time driven by a retired army officer, Innocent Tamakloe.

The driver, he said, would be put before court after investigation.

Meanwhile, the bodies of the students have been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue at Cantonments.
