2 times the Asantehene has donated towards educational development outside Asanteman

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has frequently demonstrated his commitment to the development of education across the country.

His numerous contributions to education over the years have earned him an honorary doctorate (Doctor of Letters, honoris causa) in recognition of his distinguished statesmanship, contribution to education in Ghana, as a purveyor of traditional jurisprudence and advocate of the rule of law.

Here are the two times Otumfuo made donations for the educational development in 2024

GH¢500,000 donation to Oguaa

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, generously donated a sum of GH¢500,000 to support the establishment of an educational fund by the Oguaamanhene, Osabarimba Kwesi Atta I.

This announcement was made during the 60th anniversary of the Fetu Afahye Festival, which also marked the 25th anniversary of the Oguaamanhene’s ascension to the throne in Cape Coast on September 7, 2024.

“When I came, you told me that you want to establish an educational fund. I support the fund with GH¢500,000. I also call on all Ghanaians to support the fund so that education can be enhanced in Oguaaman,” the Asantehene stated.

GH¢500,000 donation to Ga

During his historic visit to Ga Mashie in June 2024, where a durbar was held in his honour by the Ga State and led by the Ga Mantse, Nii Teiko Tsuru II, the Otumfuo donated GH¢500,000 to the Ga Education fund.

He stated that the contributions aim to support the education of less privileged Ga children.

“I want to donate an amount of GH₵500,000 to the Ga Education Fund to help in the education of less-privileged Ga children,” the Asantehene’s interpreter said.

Otumfuo has since received praises for his outstanding commitments to advancing education in the country.
