20-30 Ghanaians Being Deported From Ireland

Is Ghana’s Embassy in U.K complacent in inflicting great calamity in Ireland as we write?
20-30 Ghanaians in the Asylum process waiting to regularise their status are being rounded up today for deportation and there are more to follow soon.

It has been confirmed the flight departed Dublin Airport Ireland 22.30 This is as a result of unique and shocking cooperation between the Government of Ghana and Irish Immigration authorities.

When the news of the alleged cooperation broke out about 6 months ago, Ghanaians in Ireland sought clarification from Ghana’s ambassador to UK Prof Danso Boafo to Ireland.

He denied that such agreement has been signed and assured his own people that such a thing will not happen under his administration.

This apparent denial gave his fellow Ghanaians living in Ireland some sense of security and false hope Ghana embassy officials in UK have secretly issued travel certificate to all Ghanaians in asylum process living in Ireland to facilitate the so called **smooth airlifting**.

The most painful aspect of it all is that the travel certificates were issued without the consent of the affected individuals and their lawyers. Most of the people about to be deported have been living in the country for more than 6-7 years. . Those who have been rounded up for deportation were not allowed to pick their personal belongings due to urgency of the process.

Eminent members of the Ghanaian community and opinion leaders are currently on crises meeting.

Ghana’s embassy in UK has confirmed the story when contacted by some of the community leaders and others alike.

We are calling on Ghanaians to remember their brothers, sisters, uncles, daughters in prayer.

This is a very serious issue, in one instance a wife was deported leaving the husband with 3 children.

We are calling the Christian Council of Ghana and our Muslim community leaders alike to prevail on the Government to stop this inhumane act.

Other African countries have rejected the so called Geneva Convention which the government of Ghana is hiding behind to execute this unfair treatment on his on citizenry.

Ghanaians in diaspora are contributing immensely to the development of our nation which we so cherish.

It is inevitably clear that the government of Ghana is waging an evil war against his own people in foreign soil.

For the past 9 years no single Ghanaian has been sent home until about six months ago when representative of Ghanaian embassy from UK [one Mr Edward Koffie] came to Ireland and collaborated with the authorities here. The sad part of this is that some of deportees have children in various universities in Ghana to carter for.

We call on all Ghanaians to pray for Ghanaian asylum seekers in Ireland as the community is in a state for despair and anguish.

A petition has been signed by members of the Ghanaian community expressing their disapproval of this action by Ghana Embassy in UK.

Who knows, this madness is not stop it will have ripple effect on all the Ghanaians living in UK and other European Countries.

As we write we are entrusting our faith in God and the good people of Ghana to say a little prayer for their love ones in Ireland.

This is a day of national tragedy in an unprecedented proportion... I have not seen things like this in my entire life, Children crying for their mothers, fathers waiting for the fate of the love ones who have been arrested. The phones never stop ringing.

This is a black Wednesday, a day of mourning and wailing.

Food left on stoves whiles owners are bungled into vans.

Tears never seizes to flow.

Where is our hope? Professor Danso Boafo, what have you done to Ghanaians in Ireland?

Professor Mills is this father for all Ghanaians that you said you will be? Would you like your children to be treated this way? Oh our Government, please stop doing this to your own people. Remember that remittances from Ghanaians abroad have helped to develop Ghana. Please stop betraying your own people.
