Rev Awortwi told the GNA that "the districts had finished conducting interviews and had submitted names of various teachers to the regions who have also collated the results, which were now flowing in", adding that from August 1 all regional winners were expected to converge in Accra for the national and final interview.

He said the office was ready and preparing for the final interview to be conducted by a total of 32 panellists, who would look at eight different categories namely Primary, Junior Secondary School, Senior Secondary School, Teacher Training, Technical and Vocational, Basic Science, Senior Secondary School Science.

He said non-teaching personnel and foreign volunteers would also be recognised for their services to the education sector.

Rev Awortwi said this year's ceremony the 10th would be launched next month. The awards ceremony scheduled for October this year is on the general theme: "Quality Teachers for Quality Education Scheme" with a sub-theme: "Training For An Efficient Teaching Force".

Rev Awortwi expressed the hope that the panellists would come out with the very best among all the contestants because best teachers were expected to do even more than what they were doing to serve as role models in their communities. 27 July 05
