The media launch of the National Core Subjects Quiz (NCSQuiz) 2018 edition was officially held at the Mamprobi E.P Church Basic School this Friday, April.

In attendance were the participating schools; Headteachers, teachers, and students. Parents, as well as the contestants of the maiden edition, were present too.

The event commenced with a freewill opening prayer followed by expatiations on the theme "INNOVATION WITH SELFLESSNESS; KEYS TO IMPACTFUL LEADERSHIP", which broadened the knowledge of both young and old present.

The Special guest of honour, Mrs. Mercy Asamoah, the Abelenkpe Circuit Supervisor lauded the organizers of the quiz for taking up such a unique initiative which has been the game changer in educational trend of the Junior High Schools, and expressed a bit of her unspeakable joy of being a vital part of this year's NCSQuiz Launch. Clothed in much excitement, she also commended the various schools for their great work with the students, encouraging the headteachers, teachers, and students to continue giving out their best in ensuring that the students remain outstanding in every aspect of life.

The contestants for last year's edition who graced the occasion spoke on how the quiz helped them in their preparation for the BECE, resulting in them gaining admissions to various "Top Known" Senior High Schools in Ghana and encouraged the contestants to uphold the National Core Subjects Quiz in high esteem because the impact of it has been mind blowing till date.



A poetry and spoken-word performances were featured; performed by a female student of LA Bawaleshie Presbyterian School and an invited spoken-word artist from the University of Ghana, Legon.

Joshua King Kotey of the organizing committee held a balloting session for the schools participating in the upcoming quiz competition.

Adding up, the Quiz Mistress for the National Core Subjects Quiz, Miss Naa Ayikailey Tagoe, in a short speech expressed her anticipation of what is to come and urged the teachers to be present to support their student, as a few failed to do last year. She also encouraged the contestants to put away timidity and shyness, and rather with confidence they should voice their answer to questions asked even if they have an iota of doubt about it.



This year, the quiz will see 25 shortlisted schools from over 100 Junior High Schools which were reached out to within the Greater Accra region, and these ones will be competing for the GOLDEN TROPHY as well as many other awe-inspiring prizes and souvenirs from quiz partners. Included in the NCSQuiz package are; the Grand Dinner with contestants, Mentorship programs, Fun tour to major tourist sites in the country amongst many others.

The 2018 edition of the National Core Subjects Quiz commences on Monday, April 16th - Friday, May 4th, 2018. Two contests would be held each day from 9 a.m - 1 p.m at the Mamprobi E. P. Church Basic School, adjacent Mamprobi Police Station.
