A former Member of Parliament (MP) for Ekumfi constituency, Mr George Kuntu Blankson has stated that some greedy elements within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) rejected him during the party’s parliamentary primary in 2015 and not the residents of Ekumfi.

Kuntu Blankson who is seeking re-election in the upcoming parliamentary primaries lost the last party’s parliamentary primaries to Mr Abeiku Crentsil but strongly believes he can snatch the seat for the NDC in 2020 if given the nod to lead the party.

The aspirant who held the seat for three consecutive terms before being booted out said: “I am coming back because it wasn’t people of Ekumfi who rejected me but greedy people within the party ruined my reputation to delegates and that accounted for my loss in the previous elections”.

He disclosed that the Ekumfi constituency seat which had been for the NDC for decades was lost to the incumbent MP, Mr Francis Kingsley Ato Codjoe in the last presidential and parliamentary elections following disagreements within the ranks of the umbrella family as well.

To this end, he appealed to the delegates to vote massively for him to fight back for the Ekumfi seat in order to redeem the NDC image of the party and charged the delegates not to make any mistakes of electing and inexperienced candidate among the four contesting for the party’s slot

“The Kuntu that is coming back is new Kuntu, the past things have gone away and coming with the new vision, new direction and new united front to take the seat back from NPP. You have somebody who has done it before so you don’t need to go and bring somebody to come and do experiments” Kuntu Blankson stated.
