The 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) commenced on Monday, July 8, 2024, and is scheduled to conclude on Monday, July 15, 2024.

An intriguing development observed as nearly 570,000 Ghanaian students sit for the BECE at over 2,000 centres is the integration of technology in the examination procedures.

A video that went viral on GhanaWeb showcased the use of a drone to transport examination papers to one of the centres for the BECE.

According to journalist Johnnie Hughes, who posted the video on Facebook on Monday, the drone was utilized to deliver exam papers to a BECE centre in Sekyere Afram Plains in the Ashanti Region.

He mentioned that the centre was challenging to access, prompting the use of a drone to ensure the exams began on time.

"Earlier today, a drone was employed to transport BECE examination materials to a hard-to-reach location in Sekyere Afram Plains in the Ashanti region, preventing any delays in the start of the exams," the caption of the video read.

"Kudos to President Akufo Addo and his government," he further commented.

The brief 5-second video captured the moment when the question papers safely landed on the ground after being released by the drone.
