Ahead of the upcoming general election, a key contender in the Ayawaso North parliamentary seat, Ibrahim Sannie, has expressed confidence in his ability to secure the seat from the incumbent NDC Member of Parliament, Yussif Issaka Jajah.
Sannie believes that his strong connection with the electorate and his track record of service in the community will resonate with voters, helping him to secure the seat in the crucial election on Saturday, December 7, 2024.
Speaking with GhanaWeb's Mawuli Ahorlumegah during Monday's Special Voting exercise on December 2, 2024, the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for the Ayawaso North mentioned that his focus remains clear on addressing the needs of the community, as he is determined to make a significant impact to bring change within the constituency.
"It is very clear that we are going to make history by annexing this seat in Ayawaso North for the NPP, hands down. The grassroots believe in my vision, and I have a strong command over the youth as they believe and support my vision," Sannie declared.
Meanwhile, the incumbent Member of Parliament for Ayawaso North, Yussif Issaka Jajah, also expressed a similar sentiment as he believes that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is confident of securing the seat once more in the area.
Yussif Jajah, who spoke with GhanaWeb TV on Monday, said, "We will ensure that we have a smooth playing field to conduct the main election on December 7 and make sure nothing untoward happens so the winner will carry the day…And I know that come December 7, the winner will be John Mahama and Hon. Yussif Issaka Jajah."
The special voting exercise, designed to accommodate personnel on election duties, involved over 130,000 voters across 14 regions.
It targeted individuals such as security personnel from the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Armed Forces, National Intelligence Bureau, Immigration and Prisons Service, as well as media personnel, election officials, and other stakeholders.
Initially, the exercise was to take place in 328 voting centers across all 16 regions.
However, the Commission rescheduled voting for the Eastern and Western Regions to Thursday, December 5, 2024, due to the leakage of a defaced presidential ballot paper designated for the two regions.
