The Electoral Commission of Ghana, as part of its preparations for the general elections on December 7, 2024, has commenced the nationwide distribution of ballot papers today, Thursday, November 14, 2024.
According to a report by graphic.com.gh, the transport of the ballots to various regions will be conducted under strict security measures.
The Deputy Chairman for Operations, Samuel Tettey, communicated this in a letter addressed to the General Secretaries of all political parties.
"We bring you warm greetings from the Electoral Commission... [and] inform you that the transportation of ballot papers to the various regions will start tomorrow," Mr. Tettey noted in the letter, dated November 13, as quoted by graphic.com.gh.
The EC further stated in its letter that the ballot papers will be stored in secured police facilities within each region until election day when they will be handed over to officials in the presence of party representatives to ensure fairness and transparency.
Addressing security concerns, the EC reiterated its commitment to preventing tampering and unauthorised access to the ballot papers by implementing robust security protocols.
