The Chairperson of the National Commission for Civic Education, Kathleen Addy, has emphasised the need for a sensitisation exercise to educate Ghanaian voters on the importance of casting their votes to elect capable leaders.

Kathleen Addy stated that it is essential for the populace to understand the negative impact of election-related violence and the consequences of selling their votes to the highest bidder.

She shared this information with GhanaWeb during the NCCE’s engagement program aimed at educating residents of Madina on election-related matters.

“The objective is to ensure that citizens understand the issues around the upcoming elections and to make wise decisions on who to elect to lead us...,” she said.

She further stated that voters must understand the consequences of engaging in unlawful electoral practices to help them conduct themselves appropriately and reject tempting offers from political figures to participate in electoral malpractices.

“We are asking them to resist the offers that comes to them to take up arms to go and fight and misconduct themselves and we will let them understand the consequences for misconducting themselves...,” she added.
