The Electoral Commission has released a summary of the 2024 certified voters' register in response to requests from political parties, including the National Democratic Congress.
In a press statement dated November 11, 2024, and signed by Samuel Tettey, the Deputy Chairman of Operations, the Electoral Commission revealed the total number of voters on the biometric register, along with other detailed statistics.
According to the Electoral Commission, the total number of voters who will be biometrically verified on election day is 18,644,811, while the total number of valid voters for the elections is 18,774,159.
Explaining the valid voters' figures, the EC said that it summed up the total number of voters with biometric data, special voters, and voters without biometric data.
“The total number of valid voters for the 2024 General Election is: 18,774,159. A = 18,640,811 (Voters with Biometric Data), B = 131,478 (Special Voters), C = 1,870 (Voters without Biometric Data). Thus, A+B+C = 18,774,159 Valid Voters,” it stated.
Regarding absent voters, the EC explained that some polling stations were closed for various legitimate reasons. It added that voters from these closed stations were transferred to other nearby polling stations.
