The Convention People’s Party (CPP) has announced its intention to elect a flagbearer by August to represent the party in the upcoming general elections in December.

Despite acknowledging the delay in selecting its flagbearer, with only 5 months left until the elections, the party is optimistic that the delay will not affect their chances of winning.

Coordinator for the National Organizational Committee, Moses Yirimambo Ambing, made this known in a meeting at the party’s headquarters, citinewsroom.com reports.

“Yes, it is justified that we are late in the calendar, but history also tells another story that just four months ago, we were able to reorganize ourselves and win an election. It's not like we are not doing anything,” Mr. Yirimambo Ambing stated.

He further explained that the party is actively planning and working in various constituencies to enhance their chances of emerging victorious in the elections.

“Our approach is data and research-driven. We know the areas to focus on, we know where the numbers are. We have done the work. So, even though we are behind schedule, we are confident that by August, we will have a flagbearer to lead the CPP into the Flagstaff House,” citinewsroom.com quoted.
