The largest opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has called on the Electoral Commission (EC) to present the list of all security officers who have been assigned special duties in the upcoming December 7 general elections.
In a press release dated July 2, 2024, signed by the party’s General Secretary, Mr. Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, it was stated that there is a need for the Electoral Commission to list the names of the security officers who have been assigned special duties during the December elections to ensure transparency and maintain the integrity of the electoral process.
Portions of the letter read, "I write to formally request the list of security personnel assigned to special duties as submitted to you by the security agencies. This request is in line with our commitment to ensuring transparency and maintaining the integrity of the electoral process, including the imminent Voter exercise scheduled for July 3 to 5, 2024."
The NDC maintains that, although the request they have decided to put across to the EC is sensitive, the party promises to ensure that the confidentiality of the information they are given will be protected.
"I understand the sensitive nature of this information and assure you that it will be handled with the utmost confidentiality and used solely to ensure a transparent and fair electoral process."
