2024 Election: How I stopped Ashanti NPP from going out to vote - Badu Kobi 'brags'

The founder and leader of the Glorious Wave Church, Prophet Emmanuel Badu Kobi, has disclosed how God instructed him to cause voter apathy in the Ashanti region to prevent New Patriotic Party (NPP) members from voting in the 2024 general elections.

According to him, God told him that if NPP supporters, especially voters in their stronghold of the Ashanti region, stepped out to vote, the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) could not win the elections.

Instead, the election would go to a second round where he could secure his victory.

"On the day of the elections, when you were voting, Pastor Acquah was in the village, Pastor Bright was in Accra, and I was in Kumasi, walking through Kumasi, stopping everything that would be functioning.

"So, at 4:00 o'clock in Kumasi, they were calling people, asking, won't you come out and vote? And let me tell you why it was so. God told me that if the NPP had people to vote, the NDC couldn't win, and it would go to a second round. But in the second round, this is how it would go: if it had gone to a second round, Mahama would have won with over 60%, which would have shocked the whole of Ghana, not just the 56%," he said.

Speaking in a sermon to his congregation on Sunday, December 22, 2024, he dismissed claims that certain pastors are taking credit for the NDC's win.

He argued that it was through him that voter apathy was caused, based on the sacrifice he made as instructed by God.

"So, everybody listened. Heaven told me that Badu Kobi, this elections, if NPP [supporters] vote, it will go to the second round. So, God, what do we do? He said, Let's work for voter apathy, which means it is our party, but we won't go out to vote.

"Is that so?... he said. Yes. So, what do we do?... I entered and called the prophet and said, I love you, but you won't win. So, voter apathy, how do we do it? Then he said Ashanti is where we must do the main thing. Before then, he said, Let's do it across Ghana.

"Mr. Beautiful, the day we connected to sacrifice against apathy, I was with you. So, after that, by that direction, then in every region, there would be voter apathy, and in some regions, they would come up," he asserted.

He continued, "Now let me shock all of you. If you check what NDC received in 2020 and what NDC received in 2024, it was just a little different. But if you check NPP in 2020 and NPP in 2024, there is a drop. Wait, it is called spiritual divine calculations. So, any prophet making noise, saying, I did it, I did it, let him come.

"So, apathy to NPP, then NDC can vote. Are you hearing me? It is spiritual mathematics. That is how NDC won. And for 2028, the calculations are in my hand."

The Electoral Commission Chairperson, Jean Mensa, on Monday, December 9, 2024, declared John Mahama, the presidential candidate of the NDC, the winner in the election, with a total of 6,328,397 votes.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) received 4,657,304 votes.

Mahama's party, the NDC, achieved historic success by gaining a majority in Parliament.

On the other hand, the NPP candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has attributed his loss to low turnout, especially in the Ashanti region, asserting that over 2 million voters did not show up to vote and media sidelined the election.
