The Member of Parliament for Dormaa West Constituency in the Bono Region, Vincent Oppong Asamoah of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has claimed that the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has instructed all contractors working on projects in the Ashanti Region to prioritize the completion of these projects ahead of the December 7, 2024, general elections.

According to Mr. Asamoah, this directive is a response to growing dissatisfaction among the NPP's supporters in the Ashanti Region, despite the region being a stronghold for the party.

He alleged that contractors in the region have been paid upfront, with additional funds provided to ensure the completion of numerous projects.

This strategy, he claimed, is intended to sway voters in favour of the NPP, led by Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia and his running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, in the upcoming elections.

Mr. Asamoah further alleged that the NPP is neglecting infrastructure development in other regions, especially in areas where they anticipate losing seats.

He pointed to the Dormaa West Constituency as an example, where several road projects initiated by the previous NDC administration under John Dramani Mahama have been abandoned.

He expressed concern that the NPP's focus on the Ashanti Region is a deliberate tactic to give the impression that the party is committed to the region's development, despite years of complaints about dilapidated school buildings and poor roads.

Appealing to the people of the Bono Region, Mr. Asamoah urged them to vote massively for the NDC in the upcoming elections to ensure the continuation of abandoned projects in the region.

He assured his constituents that while he will continue to do his best as their MP, he can achieve much more if the NDC returns to power in 2025.
