The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong-Kodua, has declared that the NPP will not rig the 2024 elections.

According to him, the peace and development of Ghana are far more important than the party’s interests.

He emphasised that he will not allow his party’s supporters to rig elections if they lose the December elections.

Justin Kodua made his submission on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo show on Tuesday, August 20, 2024.

“NPP we are not going to rig any elections. For what?.

“As General Secretary of the NPP, Ghana’s peace, comfort and development is bigger than my party and there is no way under my watch where I will allow for our supporters to be violent if we lose the elections so the NDC should accept it if they lose,” he said.

Addressing calls for a debate between the two main presidential candidates, Justin Kodua said the NDC is reluctant to accept the invitation because they know the current government has outperformed them in terms of records.

“Because we know that between us and NDC our records have outperformed their records that is why they are avoiding to debate us. If not, why are they trying to avoid it?

“Normally, there are so many things the opposition party can say against the government in power. We are the ones supposed to be running from the debate. Even after several criticisms that our governance has been bad and we haven’t performed well, we are the ones calling for them to come debate so we compare both our records but they are running.”

Justin Kodua accused the NDC of trying to incite violence among the populace ahead of the elections, urging them to respect the outcome of the elections in good faith.

“They are preparing the minds of their supporters to incite people knowing very well the campaign message Dr Bawumia is propagating across the country despite hardships. They want to incite people unnecessarily so that if they are not declared winners after the election, they can cause mayhem.”
