Nana Kwame Bediako, the leader of the New Force, has declared his intention to run as an independent candidate in the upcoming 2024 presidential election.

According to him, this announcement follows obstacles he encountered during the party registration process with the Electoral Commission (EC).

At a press conference held on July 12, 2024, in Accra, Nana Kwame Bediako explained that his party had submitted the necessary documentation on September 12, 2023, however, despite being informed that a provisional certificate was ready on May 30, 2024, the registration process has since stalled.

Frustrated by these delays, Bediako has opted to pursue his presidential ambitions independently, declaring his dedication to the Ghanaian people and the nation’s prosperity.

"This fight is personal to me. I have lived the struggles of everyday Ghanaians, and I am determined to bring economic freedom, equity, and empowerment to all.

“…after eight months of waiting and only receiving a provisional license, it has become clear that pursuing a full party license in time for the elections is impractical. Therefore, we have decided to proceed with an independent candidacy,” Bediako stated.

Bediako reassured his supporters that the New Force Movement would continue its efforts to register as an official political party after the elections.

He expressed confidence that his independent candidacy would not limit his chances of winning.
