Ghana international Kingsley Schindler has been ruled out of the Black Stars’ doubleheader against Sudan in the qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

The Turkey-based defender is one of the 25 players invited by Black Stars head coach Otto Addo last Friday for the two crucial games during the October international break.

With just three days to the first leg of the meeting between Ghana and Sudan, there is concern about the fitness of Kingsley Schindler.

The defender is set to miss the two games against Sudan after picking up an injury during Samsunspor’s 3-1 win against Adana Demirspor in Turkey over the weekend.

To fill the void in the Black Stars squad, FC Basel defender Jonas Adjetey Adjei, who received his first call-up for the matches against Angola and Niger, has been summoned by coach Otto Addo.

Two other players, Francis Abu and Ibrahim Sadiq, have also been handed late Black Stars call-ups to replace Majeed Ashimeru and Ibrahim Osman, respectively.

Meanwhile, the Black Stars have held their first training session in Accra as part of preparations for the first meeting with Sudan later this week on Thursday.

The 10 players who trained include Jojo Wollacott, Frederick Asare, Mohammed Kudus, Mohammed Salisu, Gideon Mensah, Elisha Owusu, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Antoine Semenyo, Brandon Thomas-Asante, and debutant Isaac Afful.
