22 major roads constructed in Eastern Region

Kwahu-Nketepa (ER) Jan. 19, GNA - Dr Kwasi Akyem Apea-Kubi, Eastern Regional Minister, has indicated that government is sourcing for funds for the construction of 22 major roads in the region including the 32- kilometre Adawso-Nketepa-Mpaem road. He has therefore appealed to communities living along that road to exercise patience since the project had not been abandoned by government as being speculated.

Dr Apea-Kubi said this when he held a meeting with the chiefs and people of Nketepa, a farming community in the Kwahu South District, on Thursday after he had inspected the project.

He told the people that looking at the economic benefits in the area government would do all it could to find money to construct the road and make it accessible.

The regional minister assured the people that there was no way the government would abandon the road and urged the people to discard the notion.

Mr Benjamin Ahontorvi, an opinion leader, who spoke to journalists, indicated that due to the bad nature of the road, drivers had stopped plying the route. He said the only means of transport in the area is motor cycle popularly called ‘Okada’ and therefore appealed to government to speed up the process of construction.

The Regional Minister also inspected the 21.4 kilometre Adausena-Nkwanteng road at Birim North District currently at the completion stage. He expressed happiness at the work done so far and said other road works would also be given serious attention.
