A 23-year-old man has been found dead in a bush at Nkubem, a suburb of Koforidua in the Eastern Region, in what is suspected to be suicide.

The lifeless body of Alex Oduro was found Saturday morning tied with a rope around his neck to a branch of a tree, near the Central Tabernacle branch of the Church of Pentecost.

It is unclear what might have caused him to take his own life.

People in the area who trooped to the scene were shocked at the incident.

Some residents at Konorkodzi where the deceased lived with his two younger siblings recounted he recently started behaving abnormally.

One of them, Nana Adwoa Larbi told 3news.com that “Alex in recent times was behaving strangely, he even came to urinate close to our house, my brother cautioned him to behave”.

Oduro was a junior high school dropout who was under apprenticeship to learn tiling.

He was the elder to two other siblings and a benefactor to them.

The body has since been retrieved by the police with the help of residents and deposited at the St Joseph Hospital for autopsy and further investigation.

“We were called by our boss after he received information from the BNI. We came to see the truth; we are sending the corpse to St. Joseph hospital,” Inspector Ebenezer Sakyi told 3news.com

Auntie of the deceased, Christiana Asabea, was struck by shock said “He is my son, that’s my elder sister’s son…I hardly see him, I was at a funeral when I was called to come and see that Alex has hanged himself”
