24-year-old hacks uncle to death

Victor Elemawusi Yao, a 24-year-old unemployed and resident of Logba-Klikpo in the Afadjato South District of the Volta region, has butchered his uncle to death with a cutlass.

The deceased, Mawuko Tagbo, a 56-year-old farmer, suffered an untimely death from multiple wounds sustained in the savage act when a misunderstanding ensued between them in a crab hunting expedition.

Mr Kartey Otumi, Hohoe Divisional Crime Officer corroborating the incident to the Ghana News Agency, said the incident took place at a section of the Anyor stream near Logba-Klikpo on May 25, this year.

He said Police initial investigations suggested a pre-meditated murder as an exercise book found in the suspect’s room revealed a list of names including that of his uncle and other family members being placed on death row.

He said the suspect alleged that the deceased and other family members maltreated him badly and was going to “sacrifice” them one after another.

Meanwhile, the suspect has been remanded into Police custody as investigations into the matter continue.
