25-year-old farmer at Asonkwaa dies during group hunt

A 25-year-old farmer at Asonkwaa in the Nkoranza South Municipality, Kwasi Nyaba met his untimely death during a group hunting expedition on Wednesday, February 29 this year.

The deceased was said to have been shot by his 20-year-old younger brother, Kwasi Buronya during the expedition.

Mr Appiah Issah, Assembly Member for Asonkwaa told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Nkoranza that, the deceased and Buronya were among a group of youth who went on a hunting expedition and that the incident occurred near the banks of River Nsonko.

Mr Issah said Buronya, after succeeding in killing a grass-cutter was re-loading his single barreled rifle when the gun went off and the pellets hit the chest of Nyaba, killing him instantly.

The Assembly Member said the two brothers were from Navrongo in the Upper East Region and had lived at Asonkwaa since their infancy.

The body of the deceased has since been buried after an autopsy at the Saint Theresa’s Hospital in Nkoranza while the police are investigating the incident.**
