Two hundred and sixty-seven recruits out of 274 have successfully joined the Ghana Navy.

The recruits graduated after undergoing six months of extensive training at the Navy Recruits Training School (NRTS) at Nuterkpor, Sogakope in the Volta Region.

The recruits – BT 81- were admitted to NRTS, which is under the Navy Training Command (NAVTRAC) from July 15, 2018.

They were trained in first aid, naval stores, rope-work, fire fighting, military laws, among others.

Five of them were released for misconduct, while one of them, Frank Ayerh passed away at the 37 Military Hospital.

Commodore Michael Kweku Addison (Rtd), in an address, called on the ratings, who exhibited great skills in silent drills at the passing out parade, to be disciplined and refrain from acts that would tarnish the great image of the Ghana Armed Forces.

The parcel of land for NRTS was acquired from the traditional authorities under the leadership of Commodore Addison, a former Flag Officer Commanding (FOC).

The award for Overall Best Recruit was won by Recruit Mensah Isaac Tweneboah, Best in Academics Award by Recruit Adagblenya Doreen Edem, while the Wheel Award was won by Recruit Tweneboah-Koduah Daniel.

Some of the dignitaries present were the District Chief Executive (DCE) and Member of Parliament (MP) for South Tongu, Louis Agamah and Kobla Woyome respectively.

The FOC for NAVTRAC, Commodore Eric Adu and other heads of security agencies in the region were in attendance.
