28 file nominations for NPP polls

Twenty-eight people have so far declared their intentions to vie for top positions in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) during its National Delegates Congress slated for August 25.

Of the number, four are are contesting for the National Chairmanship, 10 for the three National Vice Chairmanship positions, eight for national organizer, four for National Treasurer and two others who have not indicated the positions they aspire for.

Interestingly with five days to the close of filing of nominations, no one has shown interest in the position of General Secretary, which the incumbent, Dan Botwe is expected to recontest. For the post of national chairman , Haruna Esseku; Mohammed Musah, Central Regional Youth Organiser; Col. S. Addai Duah (rtd.) and Robert Quinoo-Arthur have registered their intentions to contest.

Those contesting for the Vice Chairmanship position are Peter Mac Manu, the Western Regional NPP Chairman; Gifty Ayeh popularly known as Daavi Ama of Dimples Junction and a member of National Media Commission; Stephen A. Ntim, Ken Gag Senaya and Y. A. Osebre. Others are Osei Yaw Barimah, Samuel Kwame Amable, Agnes Okudjeto, Dr Kwesi Adjepong and Nana Abronomah.

The position of National Treasurer is being contested for by Isaac Kwesi Arthur, Greater Accra Regional Treasurer; Samuel James Nii Adjei Tawiah, Micheal Dugan and Dr. Branford Ekow Ansah.

For the post of national organizer, the acting Greater Accra Regional Secretary, Lord Commey; an advertising agent, Mustapha Abdul Hamid; Francis Kojo Smith, Joseph K. Darko, Sulemana Yirimea, George Okyere Asiedu, Johnson Cliff Aboagye and Constantine Bartholomew Mouteyiri are vying. The two who have picked up application forms but not indicated the positions they aspiring for are Dr. Gyiele Murah and Herman Seshie. So far, only three people have returned their completed application forms.
