Ho, Dec. 28, GNA - A total of 3,000 security officers were on Tuesday dispatched to monitor the District Level Election in the Volta Region. The officers comprised personnel from the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Immigration Service, Customs Division of Ghana Revenue Authority, Ghana Prisons Service and Ghana National Fire Service.
Mr David Nenyi Ampah-Bennin, Regional Police Commander charged the officers to ensure peaceful election in the Region. He asked them to protect the ballot boxes by ensuring that their eyes were constantly on them.
"Keep the boxes as your treasure and ensure that they get to their destinations without any tampering," Mr Ampah-Bennin advised. He asked the officers to quickly inform the regional headquarters operations room in case they face any challenges. Mr Ampah-Bennin said there were enough personnel for re-enforcement in case of emergency and gave the assurance that the police would be on top of any challenge.
After praying the personnel burst into singing as their long buses moved out of the regional police headquarters for their various destination= s for the election, re-scheduled for Wednesday, December 29 and Thursday, December 30.
