Santrokofi-Bume (Volta Region), 13 Oct., A 38 million-cedi health post built by the people of Santrokofi-Bume through self-help and financial assistance from a non-governmental organisation based in Berlin, Germany, known as ''GSE,'' was commissioned at the weekend. The GSE provided 28 million cedis while the people contributed 10 million cedis through special levies and provided communal labour. Mr Koku Akpotosu, Hohoe district co-ordinating director, who deputized for the hohoe district chief executive, commended the people for their self-help spirit. He appealed to the people to maintain the health post and to patronise health education programmes such as immunization against childhood-killer diseases. Miss Monica Monedesrokow, a representative of GSE in Ghana, said her organisation had provided health, education and electricity facilities for communities at Abutia, Atikpui and Akrofu, all in the Ho district. Miss Martina Agbemabiase, acting Hohoe district director of health services, commended the NGO and the people of the area and assured them that additional staff would be posted to help run the health post. Nana Otitiaku the third, Adontenhene of Santrokofi traditional area, in a welcoming address, appealed to the ministry of health to provide the post with beds, furniture, a laboratory and other medical items. More than 1.7 million cedis was realised in an appeal for funds for the construction nurses' quarters.
