399 kg of cocaine impounded

Nsawam (E/R), May 31, GNA - The Kibi and Nsawam police in a joint operation on Friday impounded 399 kilogrammes of suspected cocaine in a vehicle with registration number GT 3359 Z, belonging to Evowe Logistics Company at Teshie in Accra.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Nsawam, Chief Superintendent of Police and also Divisional Commander of Kibi in the Eastern Region, Mr. Owiredu Nkansah said the arrest of the suspected cocaine was effected upon a tip-off.

Chief Supt. Nkansah said the substance was transported from Guinea via Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.

He said the three persons on board the vehicle, Kofi Amenu, 30, driver; Anani Kwabena 34; and Debli Kofi, 33 are in police custody assisting the Nsawam police in their investigations. Chief Supt. Nkansah said the vehicle has been impounded at the Nsawam Police Station while the suspected cocaine had been sent to the Police CID Quarters in Accra for further investigations.
