Four more companies have presented cheques and agro-products to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA), towards the celebration of this year’s National Farmers Day celebrations, to be held at Ho, the Volta Regional Capital, on December 6.
Sidalco Ghana Limited, presented 130 cartons of assorted agro-chemicals worth GH¢25,000, and a cheque for GH¢50,000; Interplast, presented a cheque for GH¢30,000; Crocodile Machete Company, 15 cartons of machetes, and Rainbow Company Limited, donated agro-products, valued at GH¢20,000.
The Chief Executive of Sidalco, Mrs Gifty Lamptey, said the presentation was the company’s widow’s mite to ginger the hardworking farmers, who have been the backbone of the country’s economy.
“Our farmers must be congratulated for their hard work, and as stakeholders it is the duty of the company to boost their moral towards giving off their best “, she added.
The Deputy General Manager of Rainbow Company Limited, Nate Ma, said the company had been part of the Farmer’s Day celebrations for years and would continue to support the ministry to recognise the efforts of the country’s hardworking farmers.
Prosper Deku, the Assistant Accountant at Crocodile Machete, said the company was recognising the farmers as the largest patrons of its products.
The Irrigation Manager of Interplast, Haider-Malhas, said the company had played an important role in the agriculture sector of the country, hence the decision to support the ministry to bring smiles onto the faces of the farmers who continued to make the nation proud.
The company, he explained had produced a new drip irrigation equipment to meet the demand of farmers.
The Minister of State at MoFA, Dr Nurah Gyiele, commended the companies for supporting the country’s hardworking farmers whose contribution and sacrifice have changed the fortunes of the country.
“You must all be commended for the immense contribution towards a successful National Farmers Day celebrations”, he said.
