The Anti-Armed Robbery Unit of the Ghana Police Service has arrested four (4) suspected armed robbers and retrieved several sophisticated weapons.
According to the police, they received intelligence that an Urvan bus with registration number AS 4353-15, carrying four men from Kumasi to Konongo, was believed to be involved in a plan to commit robbery.
The Konongo Divisional Taskforce was assigned to apprehend the suspects. The team successfully intercepted the vehicle, driven by Shadrack Anartey, with Emmanuel Agyei Donkor, Abu Ali (of Fulani descent), and Abubakar Buba, a Nigerian, on board.
A search conducted in the vehicle revealed two AK47 rifles, three Magazines and 86 rounds of ammunition which were concealed in an enclosed compartment in the vehicle.
Meanwhile, suspects were arrested, and the exhibits were retrieved. The vehicle has been impounded together with the 2 Ak47 rifles plus 3 magazines and 86 ammunition.
The suspects are being arraigned for court.
