All four teenagers who publicly defiled a teenage girl at Bantama in the Ashanti Region will be staying a little longer in jail, police officials say.

This follows a ruling by the Asokwa District Court in Kumasi which set January 10, 2018, as the set date for them to reappear before the court.

The lawyer for the teenage is sad he can't seek bail for all four teenagers. According to John Boamah, the "negative" reportage against these teenagers is unfair.

The four are among seven teenagers who were seen in a video gang-defiling another teenager at Bantama in Kumasi.

Meanwhile, the police is currently embarking on a manhunt for the other perpetrators of the crime. The girl in question is responding positively to medical and psychological care.

Government through the gender ministry has strictly spoken against the defilement incidence as sector minister, Otiko Djaba has called for all perpetrators of the crime to be arrested.

The Police say they are on a manhunt to arrest other members of the gang, while investigation into the incident continues.

The National Headquarters of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, indicated in a statement that, it had taken a “serious view” of the incident, and has constituted a special investigative team to look into the matter, and identify the suspects for the necessary legal actions.

The statement also asked various media houses and those in possession of the video to “stop circulating it since it is an offence to circulate such obscene materials.”
