491 Parliamentary Candidates Set To Go !!!

With just a few days left to go for nominations to be filed, a total of 491
candidates have so far gotten the nod from their various political parties to
contest this year's Parliamentary elections.

This compares with a total of 267 candidates at the end of last August when our
Research Desk monitoring newspaper results of the party primaries' findings
were published.

In all, there are 230 constituencies in the country.

As at the end of September, the NDC had elected 202 candidates, followed by the
NPP with 185 candidates, CPP - 85, PNC - 17, GCPP - 1, DPP - 1, and NRP - 1

This is the first time that the NDC has overtaken the NPP in the number of
candidates approved for nomination since Party primaries began about six months
ago.
