A security guard stationed at the Chansa-Nakori Chips Compound, which provides health services for the two adjourning communities, has been found dead with gunshot wounds at Wa in the Upper West Region.

The Upper West Regional Police Command which is investigating the incident, has asked the general public to volunteer useful information that could lead to the arrest of the attackers.

TV3's Upper West Regional Correspondent, Yakubu Abdul Gafur, says the man was shot dead by unknown assailants at around 4:00 am on Tuesday June 2.

According to the police, a resident nurse at the facility claimed to have heard a struggle in the compound between the security guard and two unidentified persons, but could not shout for help.

For fear of her own life, she locked herself in the room, only to find out later that the security guard was in a pool of blood after he was shot on his right shoulder.

The Public Relations Officer of the Upper West Regional Police Command, ASP Joy Afagbedzi told TV3 investigations have begun into the incident.

He could not immediately tell what may have triggered the killing.

Chansa and Nakori are twin communities in the Wa municipality that share the same health facility, schools and sometimes boreholes.

Due to the layout of the communities, the public facilities are built in isolated bushy locations in other not to be favour the other.

But the location of such public facilities have posed a security threat to residents and workers alike.
