Kpone (Greater Accra) Ms Beatrice Naa Afieye Ashong, Member of Parliament for Kpone/Katamanso constituency, yesterday cut the sod for the beginning of a 560 million-cedi water project for Kpone. The project being funded by the Tema Development Corporation, involves the laying of pipelines over a distance of about four kilometres along the Kpone-Aluworks road to Kpone junction by Welph Water Engineering limited, a Ghanaian firm. Ms Ashong said the people of Kpone who have contributed more than 25 million cedis, part of which was used to purchase 112 pieces of 12-inch pipelines, will provide communal labour on the project. The project, expected to be completed by December this year, will help alleviate the perennial water shortage in the area, especially during the dry season.
