A six-year-old girl identified as Ewura Amma was knocked and killed by a hit and run driver on Easter Friday at a popular place called “18” close to Ahenema Kokoben near Kumasi in the Atwima Kwawoma District of the Ashanti Region.
The deceased was said to be returning from a children's service at Methodist Church with two other siblings when she met her untimely death few metres away from the church.
The deceased, according to eyewitnesses’ mynewsgh.com spoke to, fell down in the middle of the road while trying to cross and a commercial vehicle on top speed without regard to road signs ran overher killing her on the spot.
The driver of the vehicle however failed to stop with efforts by locals to arrest him and hand over to police turning fruitless.
Among the two surviving siblings, one is responding to treatment for minor injuries while other was unhurt, according to sellers by the road.
Ewura Amma it was gathered is a daughter of one Mr. Adu, a Lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and the mother’s name was given as sister Vida, provisions store owner in the community.
The family are grief-stricken over her death when our reporters visited home of the deceased Saturday morning.
The matter has been reported to the police who revealed that they are currently investigating the matter and will soon apprehend the runaway driver.
