63 Candidates to contest elections in Dormaa

A total of 63 candidates from 26 out of the 30 electoral areas in the Dormaa Central Municipality have filed to contest the up-coming assembly elections slated for March, 2015.

Six other candidates have also picked nomination forms to vie for the unit committee membership positions in the Municipality.

Mr William K, Amu, Dormaa Central Municipal Director of the Electoral Commission, who made this known to Ghana News Agency in Dormaa–Ahenkro on Wednesday, said the Commission is yet to give out nomination forms to interested candidates for the four other electoral areas.

Mr Amu, also with oversight responsibility for Dormaa West District added that, a total of 12 aspiring assembly members from seven out of the 10 electoral areas in the District had filed to contest in the impending elections to be held simultaneously with the unit committee elections.

He said no one had filed to contest the unit committee elections in the district.

He described as “overwhelming” the level of enthusiasm shown towards the filing of nominations for the elections, saying people are very eager and willing to pick up the forms.
