A 67-year-old Madam Monica Kunde was nearly killed on Friday, April 15, 2016, by an unknown Fulani herdsman when returning from her farm at Ekye-Amanfrom in the Kwahu Afram Plains South District.

The incident, Kasapafmonline.com learnt, happened around 6:30pm.

The herdsman believed to be in his 20s attacked the old woman after noticing that she was the only person walking along the road.

The herdsman, this website understands, called the old woman from behind and asked her who she was in her company.

Madam Kunde suspecting foul play, immediately answer that she was in the company of her husband.

But the nomad having trailed the woman for some time and realizing that she was alone attacked her from behind.

John Mprah, who confirmed the incident to Kasapafmonline.com when contacted on his cell phone, said the Fulani herdsman hits the head of his mother with a stick from behind making her fall on the ground.

“He hit my mum twice in the head with a stick, and she fell, he dragged her into the bush about two meters from the roadside. My mum sustained a cut at the back of her head and was bleeding, but this man wouldn’t let her go. I don’t know what he was looking for, but it was obvious he wanted to kill the old woman.”

“My mum who could not bear what she was going through suddenly got up, held the Fulani’s belt and struggled with him to the roadside. When the nomad saw a motorbike approaching, he then sped off leaving my mum in a pool of blood. So the motor rider went to my mum’s aid and took her to the clinic,” he narrated.

The incident, we are told, has since been reported to the Police.

But Mprah, 26, told this website that the leadership of the Fulani Community has agreed to pay all the hospital bills after meeting the Police and the family of the old woman.
