The Police at Mankessim in the Central region has arrested a 28-year-old John Mensah Sarbah for his alleged involvement in narcotic trade in the area.

The police acting on intelligence arrested the suspect who was seen packing some 75 bags of compressed dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp into a house along the sea side of the Ekumpoano village in the Mamkessim Township.

According to the Police, the suspect on interrogation confirmed that he was actually acting on the instruction of another person whose identity has been kept by the police pending his arrest.

Another person Bishop Sylvestre Dadzie who is a self-styled “Pastor” and brother of the suspect has also been arrested by the police for inciting the town folks against the police leading to an attack on the officers who were on operation to arrest the suspect.

Speaking to the media, the Mankessim Divisional Police Commander ACP Owoahene Adjei Acheampong sent a caution to criminals in the area to put an end to their actions as the police would not countenance such behaviours.

The public, he explained must also volunteer information leading to the arrest of the said criminals whom they stay within the various communities.
